2008 NASW Internship Fair

NASW student members looking for great internships, or news and science organizations looking for top-flight interns, should sign on for the 2008 NASW Internship Fair. The fair will be held Saturday, Feb. 16 from 1 to 5 p.m. at the 2008 AAAS meeting in Boston at the Hilton Boston Back Bay, Adams room.

At the beginning of the Fair, recruiters will give brief (five minutes) presentations about their organizations and internship opportunities and answer any general questions from students attending the Fair. Subsequent to the presentations, students will sign up to meet with recruiters of their choice. Student meetings with recruiters are limited to 5 minutes.

Students: Please keep in mind that the Fair is intended to be an opportunity for NASW student members to learn about an organization's internship program and introduce themselves to recruiters to make a quick first impression. Meetings with recruiters are limited to five minutes each. Typically, recruiters may identify prospective interns at the Fair, but follow-up interviews and screening are certainties. Sign up will be on the day of the Fair only, and you must be a member or a student member of NASW to participate. Please be prepared. Make sure you have proof of NASW membership and 20 copies of your resume, a list of references and clips to share with recruiters. Because of time constraints, you may not be able to meet with all recruiters, but you may leave a resume with each and follow up at your discretion during or after the AAAS meeting.

Internship coordinators: The initial presentation about your organization is intended to eliminate the need to repeat that information to each prospective intern you interview. It will be helpful for everyone if recruiters have informational handouts about their organizations' internship opportunities. Please bring 50 copies. Recruiting organizations are encouraged to consider having two people work the Fair to facilitate the volume of students seeking internships. NASW volunteers will be on hand to help recruiters and students as much as possible.

Recruiters, please copy the form below and return it to Fair coordinator Jenny Cutraro. Deadline: Friday, Feb. 8. We have 15 tables available this year on a first-come-first-served basis.
