NASW job services

Are you an employer looking for a highly skilled science, medical, and technical writer for full-time, contract or freelance work? Are you a writer looking for a job or assignment? NASW provides a variety of ways for employers and writers to find each other.

Services for employers

  1. For the fastest response, advertise on the NASW-jobs email list, to which more than 900 of our members subscribe. All NASW-jobs ads are also archived for three months in the members section of the NASW web site. Details below.
  2. Contact our members directly by browsing a list of those who have chosen to make their contact information and specialties available, or by looking at their web pages, where you can find resumes and work samples.
  3. Advertise in our quarterly printed journal ScienceWriters. Rates are $10 per line with an 8-line minimum. Deadlines are Dec. 1, March 1, June 1 and Sept. 1 each year and the issue reaches subscribers about two months later. To place an ad or get more information, contact:

    Tinsley Davis, executive director
    Organizer, NASW ScienceWriters annual meeting
    P.O. Box 440507
    Somerville, MA 02144
    Phone: 617-909-9317

  4. Advertising on NASW-jobs

Ads for one-time freelance assignments may be run for free. All other ads are $150.

To place an ad, send your copy to the NASW cybrarian. If there is a fee for the ad, be sure to include billing instructions (including full mailing address) and send a second copy to the NASW Executive Director.

All ads should be descriptive but brief — no more than three or four paragraphs — and should be sent in a plain text email message. Please include the job title, employer name, tenure (full-time, part-time, contract or freelance), location if applicable, and contact information. We encourage you to specify a pay range, if possible. Doing so is appreciated by members and may speed the hiring process by deterring responses from those whose fees are outside your budget.

Ads are generally run within one business day after they are received by the cybrarian.

    Services for NASW members

    1. Advertise your services by establishing your own web page and making your contact information and specialties available to NASW web site visitors. NASW members who have usernames and passwords for the members section of this web site may set up their own web pages on the site at no cost. For more information, see these instructions.

    2. Subscribe to the NASW-jobs email list and browse available jobs in the NASW job bank.
