How to post home pages using WS-FTP

  1. If you don't have WS_FTP, acquire it.

  2. Unzip this program and install it according to the instructions in the readme file.
  3. Start the program. In the Session Profile window click on "New."
  4. Enter the following information in the boxes:
  5. Profile name: Anything you want, such as My Home Page
    Host Name is: nasw.org
User ID is: Your NASW username
    Password is: Your NASW password
Note that the user id and password are case-sensitive.
    Account is: (leave blank)

    Under Initial Directories:
    Remote Host is: (leave blank)
Local PC is: You can leave this blank or put in the full path to the subdirectory on your local PC where you'll store your web documents.

  6. Check the "Save Password" box
  7. Click the "Save" button to save your new session profile.
  8. Make sure you are connected to the Internet (using your usual connection procedure). From the WS_FTP Sesson Profile window, click OK to establish an ftp connection. Once the ftp connection is established, you should end up in your directory.
  9. You can then place pages on your web page by highlighting them in the Local System window and using the arrow key to send them to the Remote System
  10. When you're done uploading your files, click on the "Close" button to close the connection, and then the "Exit" button to exit WS_FTP. Your pages will be available to the world.
