The organizers of the ScienceWriters 2008 meeting, scheduled for October 24-28 in Palo Alto, are looking for your creative workshop and field trip ideas. Getting involved is an easy and rewarding experience and ensures that the meeting covers topics or visits surrounding areas that you want to explore. See full instructions on the next annual meeting page, but hurry: Proposals are due March 5!

The deadline for receipt of dues and the Authors Coalition survey is January 31. If you need your new membership card in a hurry (say, for a certain meeting in mid-February), please keep in mind that renewals can take up to 3 weeks to process, so pay early. Incomplete renewals are processed last. So, don't forget to include your payment (it happens!), and remember to send in the form even if you paid via PayPal.

Invoices for 2008 Dues have been mailed. Please note that all dues must be received by January 31, 2008. Dues are now remitted to NASW's Associate Director, Tinsley Davis, at a different address, so please read the mailing carefully.

More than 300 science writers from around the world gathered in Spokane, Washington, on October 19 to kick off the annual NASW Science in Society meeting. Early highlights included a trip to the world's only adult grizzly bear research facility, located at Washington State University in Pullman, and the "Science Cabaret," which featured performances of music, theater, and comedy skits about science.
