Managing your NASW email list subscription

You can subscribe to any public NASW email list, manage your subscription or unsubscribe at the Mailman list management page. Just click on the name of any list and follow the instructions on the resulting page.

Once subscribed, you can post a message to the list by addressing it in the format listname@nasw.org. For example, using the address NASW-talk@nasw.org would send your message to the NASW-talk list. (Please review the list policies before posting.)

New subscribers to all NASW discussion lists are initially set to "moderated" as an anti-spam measure. This means that their first posts will be held for review by the cybrarian before being sent on to the list. In most cases, the review requirement will be lifted after the first message is approved.

CHANGING YOUR SUBSCRIPTION OPTIONS

To change your subscription options or unsubscribe, go to the list management page, select a list, and enter your email address in the "unsubscribe or edit options" box near the bottom of the page.

You will be asked for your list password. Note that this password may not be the same as your NASW members web site password. If you have forgotten your list password, you can click a button on the same page to get a reminder sent to you by email.

Once you've entered your password, you can use the resulting page to:

  • Change the email address of your subscription. If you also want your address changed in NASW's records, please notify the executive director.
  • Change your list password.
  • Temporarily suspend and later resume deliveries of mail from the list. This option means you don't have to unsubscribe during vacations and other long absences.
  • Choose between receiving the regular version of the list, in which each message will be sent to you individually, or the digest version, in which list mail is sent in batches one or more times per day.
Each option also includes a "change globally" checkbox. Mark this box if you want the changes to apply to all of your NASW email list subscriptions. You can see a list by clicking on the "List my other subscriptions" button.

READING THE LIST ARCHIVES

Searchable online archives are available for NASW-talk, NASW-freelance and NASW-pr lists. Archives are also available in non-searchable formats for other lists on the Mailman list management page.
