The NASW 2003 Annual Meeting Great Colorado Ski Bash
What?
Skiing — that's what! Come join your fellow NASW members for a few days of skiing, relaxation, and fun, at the scenic ski resort area of Frisco, Colorado. Don't worry if you can't ski — a short lesson on the bunny slopes will fix that. If you don't like downhill skiing there's always cross-country skiing (rumor has it there's a Nordic ski center right in Frisco), snowmobiling, snowshoeing, etc.
Where?
Frisco, a town within 10 miles of Copper Mountain, Breckenridge, and Keystone ski resorts. We are renting 2 condos (loosely divided into guys and gals). These condos will sleep about 8 people each. If there's a high demand, we'll rent a couple more.
If you don't want to stay over, you can still join us during the day. We'll try to get you a cheap ski pass if you let us know.
When?
The condos will be available for 5 days: Saturday, Feb. 8, until the morning of Thursday, Feb. 13th. You are welcome to stay the entire 5 days or a minimum of 2 days.
How much?
The rental fees (including tax) for each night will be as follows:
- Saturday, Feb. 8th: $50
- Sunday, Feb. 9th: $50
- Monday, Feb. 10th: $50
- Tuesday, Feb. 11th: $70
- Wednesday, Feb. 12th: $70
If you stay all 5 days, the charge is reduced to $250.
How do i get there?
Shuttle buses are available from Frisco to reach the nearby skiing. The hard part will be getting from the airport to Frisco, although shuttle buses from the airport are available and cost about $50 one-way. Please fill out the application form regarding your travel arrangements, and as the time gets nearer, we will coordinate these so that everyone has a way to get from the airport.
Ski passes
Lift tickets are normally about $60 a day, but locals pay around $40. We are currently finding out how to pass ourselves off as locals, but failing that, will do our best to get the cheapest lift tickets possible.
This just in: Cheap lift tickets for Copper Mountain
Member Sibylle Hechtel found what may be the cheapest lift tickets around for Copper Mountain. But you will have to act quickly. The 4-day lift tickets are available for $99 online before November 15th. Last ski season, daily lift-tickets for Copper Mountain cost $57 (they will probably cost more this season), so this is a great deal even if you plan to ski for only 2 days. Also, the 4 days don't have to be consecutive. They can be spread out over a 7-day period. Any questions, please email Emma Hitt.
Ski equipment
You can rent the equipment at the ski area. Also, AB Ski & Sport in Frisco has reasonable rates online.
How do i sign up?
Please fill out the form and fax it to 678-461-3787 or email to Emma Hitt by November 15th. Everything is first come, first served, so you might want to get this in right away if you are interested.
Payment will be due by December 1st and will be non refundable. However, if you change your mind about staying or about the dates you want to stay, you are welcome to find a replacement. We'll also keep a waiting list of people that you can contact if there's enough interest.
If you have any questions please email Emma Hitt or call 678-461-0975.
