I've been a science writer since 1993, covering such topics as human health
(particularly environmental health), water, fisheries, nuclear waste cleanup, and other environmental subjects.
I have written for magazines, weekly papers, and websites in formats including features, in-depth news pieces,
profiles, book reviews, and a monthly column. I've also written about religion as it relates to science
and environmental issues, and on the arts, particularly music and theater. See links at left for my resume and writing samples.
Science writing was a career change for me. I spent the first dozen years of my working life as a
