Want your blog in Google News? Fat chance

Google may want to reinvent the news business, but don't bother asking to be in Google News if you're a solo practitioner. That's what Dan Frommer discovered when he asked to have his Splatf site included. "Google has a rule about the sites that it includes in Google News," Frommer wrote. "They can’t be one-person operations, and they have to appear to be 'organizations.' Never mind solo shops practicing entrepreneurial journalism — Google wants news with overhead!"

RE: Want your blog in Google News? Fat chance

This makes sense - hundreds of thousands of people have blogs, and they can write whatever they like. Google need to maintain some standards so that the news they provide is actually news and not made up by some crazy blogger in their bedroom

Google is one of the most open minded tech companies out there. If you talk to the right person they would help you in whatever you are attempting to achieve as long as you are not going against core issue/rule for them.

If you just attempt to appeal to the generic email, you are likely to receive the same response from a low level employee who is afraid to shake things up.

I would add Microsoft to be like minded despite what people believe about MS.
