A potpourri of science writing courses

Science writing courses at colleges and universities are among the most popular offerings in both science and liberal arts curricula. Devising an effective undergraduate course in science writing can be a challenge, so NASW's Education Committee asked longtime teachers of the craft to provide a starting point. This list of syllabi, offered as downloadable files, shows a range of reading, classroom exercises, and assigned articles for different academic calendars (quarters and semesters) and different sets of students. New and returning instructors should feel free to adapt these syllabi for their own courses. The Education Committee also welcomes faculty members and lecturers to supply their own up-to-date syllabi to enhance this list. Please send your materials to committee member Czerne Reid at czreid@nasw.org.
