We need your great ideas now for next year's World Conference of Science Journalists.

The World Conference of Science Journalists 2017 program committee invites — and encourages — everyone interested to submit a proposal for a panel or a plenary at the WCSJ2017. You do not need to be an expert or an authority on a subject, just a committed volunteer with passion for the topic. We're looking for sessions that explore reporting on issues from climate change to global health to technology and innovation. In other words, issues and professional development topics of interest to science journalists around the world. Proposals should be very like what you would submit to a national science journalism meeting but with an international emphasis and a global diversity of panelists. The program committee is happy to answer questions you might have about putting together a successful panel, including consulting on possible speakers. Contact us via dblum@wcsj2017.org.

Successful session organizers, moderators and speakers will receive complimentary registration to the meeting, and travel funding is available to those without institutional support. More information and a link to the submissions portal can be found here: wcsj2017.org/program/call-for-proposals. There you will also find a link to a successful proposal from WCSJ2015 and selected session descriptions from previous World Conferences to inspire you.

While you’re there, sign up for the WCSJ2017 newsletter to stay abreast of updates.

Be sure to submit your proposal by Tuesday, Oct. 11, 2016.

Thank you,
Deborah Blum
