NASW 2002 BOSTONThe NASW 2002 Workshops will be held Feb. 13-14, 2002, on and around the campus of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Cambridge, Mass.-just across the river from Boston. The workshops offer professional development through mini-workshops, field trips, a plenary session, panels, and networking meals. Participants will also enjoy ample opportunity to meet with colleagues and socialize. The workshops are headquartered in MIT's Tang Center. Pre-registered attendees should report there for sign-in, nametags, and workshop or field-trip locations. No walk-in registration will be permitted; all attendees must register in advance, preferably online. Wednesday events include morning Mini-Workshops especially for freelance and PIO members (attendance is limited). Wednesday afternoon's program will feature custom tours of Boston's hottest science sites. Wednesday evening includes a science theater presentation, a review of the IgNobel Prizes, reception, and an evening Star Party at the Boston Museum of Science. Thursday's program features a continental breakfast, plenary session, panel sessions, and a networking luncheon, followed by two more panel breakout sessions. The evening concludes with the NASW Science in Society Awards and reception. Following the NASW Workshops, the 168th national meeting of the American Association for the Advancement of Science will take place Feb. 14-19, 2002, at Boston's Hynes Convention Center and the Sheraton Boston and Marriott Copley Place hotels. For NASW members who choose to stay at the AAAS hotels throughout the workshops, NASW-with generous assistance from the Whitehead Institute-has arranged shuttle service from the Hynes Convention Center to MIT. For those who choose to stay in Cambridge, NASW has negotiated special rates at two hotels, the Cambridge Marriott Hotel and University Park Hotel. Final registration deadline is Jan. 7, 2002.
