ACS Grady-Stack Award Goes To Elizabeth Pennisi


Elizabeth Pennisi, former science writer at Science News magazine and currently a freelance science writer, is the 1996 winner of the American Chemical Society's (ACS) James T. Grady-James H. Stack Award for Interpreting Chemistry for the Public.

According to the ACS announcement, the $3,000 Grady-Stack award is "designed to recognize and stimulate outstanding reporting that increases the public's knowledge and understanding of chemistry and related fields."

Before she started freelancing, Pennisi was the life sciences editor for Science News from 1993 through early 1995, and its chemistry/materials science editor from 1991-1993. From 1989-91 she covered science policy from The Scientist's Washington bureau.
