BERNARD HODES

Bernard Hodes, a lifetime NASW member, died on August 11 of cardiac arrest. He was 71. He began his writing career in the 1950s, initially writing music reviews for Billboard magazine and liner notes on the back of record album jackets. He joined American Institute of Physics in 1962, where he wrote for Physics Today magazine and an internal publication. Hodes subsequently moved to IBM in 1968, initially working on internal publications. He later worked on marketing and direct mail campaigns. Hodes retired in 1992, but continued to take on writing consulting projects. Most recently he worked with local community groups in Southwestern Connecticut, Kiwanis Club of Weston, Wisemen of Weston and Westport, and the Norwalk Mentor Program.

NASW has also learned of the death of members Roger Davis of Pittsburgh, PA and Philip Goldstein of Long Island, NY. Both were freelance writers.
