'THE SCIENCES' WINS AWARD FOR EXCELLENCE FROM MAGAZINE GROUP

The Sciences, published by the New York Academy of Sciences, walked off with a prize for general excellence at the National Magazine Awards ceremony April 23 at the Waldorf Astoria Hotel in New York City. It was the only science magazine to win the coveted "Ellie," a glittering replica of a "stabile" in the form of an elephant created by Alexander Calder.

The Academy publication has now won the "Ellie" five times, twice for essays and criticism and three times for general excellence.
