CASW 2001 TRAVEL FELLOWSHIP AWARDS

The 2001 New Horizons in Science Briefing was held in Tempe, Ariz., Nov. 4-8, and hosted by Arizona State University. For the l6th year, CASW provided travel fellowships to science writers at small newspapers and media outlets who would not otherwise be able to attend the meeting.

This year, CASW sponsored 11 fellows: Marc Airhart, Earth & Sky Radio Series; Kevin Begos, Winston-Salem Journal; Sameh Fahmy, The News-Star, Monroe, La.; Betsy Mason, California Wild magazine; Mari Jensen, Tucson Citizen; Solana Pyne, Discover magazine; Camile Mojica Rey, freelance, San Carlos, Calif.; Linda Roach, freelance, Portland, Ore.; Emily Sohn, freelance, Tarrytown, N.Y.; Katherine Stapp, Global Information Network/Inter Press Service, New York, N.Y.; and Andrea Widener, Contra Costa Times, Pleasanton, Calif.
