CORRECTION
In the remembrance of Dic Sigerson (SW, Fall 2001) the word "policy"
incorrectly replaced "polity" in the following paragraph:
Sigerson's mature work in our field was driven by a vision, that broad
learning about discovery and invention, and the crafting of practical
ethics to manage human ingenuity, were intertwined and compatible. In
his view, industry shared with other leadership groups the responsibility
to build "a well informed polity" on the biospheric plane,
competent stewards of the earthly environment. He believed that the
whole of this was the true substrate of science communications.
SW regrets the error and its over-reliance on software spell checkers.
