ELECTION RESULTS FOR 2001-2003 NASW BOARD

The results are in and NASW has new officers and a new board.

In the uncontested elections for officers, members confirmed Paul Raeburn (Business Week) as president, Deborah Blum (University of Wisconsin, Madison) as president-elect, Laura van Dam (Houghton Mifflin) as treasurer, and Robert Lee Hotz (Los Angeles Times) as secretary.

Sixteen candidates vied for 11 positions as members-at-large. Of NASW's 2,100 members, 655 returned ballots by the voting deadline.

Elected to the 2001-2003 NASW board are Janet Basu, University of California, San Francisco (404 votes); Beryl Benderly, freelance (412 votes); Carol Ezzell, Scientific American (516 votes), Ira Flatow, Science Friday (525 votes), Jon Franklin, Raleigh News & Observer (478 votes), Peggy Girshman, NBC News (440 votes), Robin Marantz Henig, freelance (432 votes), A.J. Hostetler, Richmond Times-Dispatch (387 votes), Carol Cruzan Morton, freelance and Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center (440 votes), Tabitha M. Powledge, freelance (441 votes), and Joel Shurkin, HopkinsHealth (489 votes).
