METCALF OFFERS 42-WEEK RADIO ENVIRONMENTAL REPORTING FELLOWSHIP

Journalists from all media who want to study marine and environmental sciences, and work as an environmental reporter for an NPR-member station in Rhode Island, are invited to apply for a Metcalf Institute Environmental Reporting Fellowship. One 42-week fellowship that provides support and a $27,000 stipend (pending final approval of funders) will be awarded per year. This new program runs from June 10, 2001 to April 5, 2002, and starts with attendance at the Metcalf Institute Annual Workshop for Journalists for one week, independent study at the URI Graduate School of Oceanography for four weeks, and 37 weeks at WRNI, in Providence, RI, learning radio production and reporting on local environmental issues. Application Deadline is March 23, 2001. Minority journalists are encouraged to apply.
