For the most part, landscapes leave me cold. I prefer to focus on details: the whorl in a pine tree blossom, the graceful arch of a stag beetle’s horn, the miniature cityscape of a circuit board. I also like to experiment with different methods of making images I’ve captured photos using microscopes, polarized light, high-speed video, optical scanners, and a high-definition x-ray source.

(Of course, sometimes I just take pictures of my kids.)

circuit board: X-ray with color enhancement (2009)

temple outbuilding, Kyoto: Pentax K100 (2007)

sumac leaf: scanner (2007)
