Leslie Pray is an independent science writer and editor based in Los Angeles, California. She prepares science and science policy reports for professional scientific societies, non-profit scientific organizations, the U.S. federal government, the National Academy of Sciences, and other clients. She also edits scientific papers for individual researchers, transforming long-winded technical text into highly readable (and sometimes even enjoyable) prose.

Dr. Pray received her Ph.D. in biology (population genetics) and an M.S. in zoology from the University of Vermont and her B.A. from the University of California, Berkeley.

An elected member of Sigma Xi, Dr. Pray has been the recipient of numerous scientific research awards, including a Jasper J. Loftus-Hills Young Investigator Award, an Entomological Society of America John H. Comstock Award, a Society for Conservation Biology Best Student Paper Award, and a National Science Foundation Postdoctoral Fellowship in Environmental Biology.
