Several committees and projects are currently looking for volunteers to assist their efforts. From judging award entries to giving away grant monies to shaping NASW's efforts to promote information access, we have a variety of opportunities for different levels of time and interest - with more on the way. Five days left to apply for free money

Applications for the Peggy Girshman Idea Grants close on Monday, Feb. 21. NASW invites proposals from individuals or groups for grants of up to $15,000. Funds are intended to support projects and programs that will help science writers in their professional lives and/or benefit the field of science writing.

Help shape #SciWri22

ScienceWriters2022 in-person sessions are scheduled for October 21-25 in  Memphis and will be held collaboration with our CASW partners and St. Jude Children’s Research. Virtual sessions will happen outside the time range so that attendees can choose in-person, virtual, or both. Drive the content that you want to see by submitting a virtual or in-person session proposal by March 17.

Mid-Career Mentoring

Applications are open for NASW's first virtual Mid-Career Mentoring Program, which has been designed and planned by volunteers on the Journalism committee. Any member with 5 or more years of experience is eligible to apply. Videos of sessions will be viewable to all members online at the conclusion of the program.

Sharon Begley Award

The Council for the Advancement of Science Writing is accepting entries for the Sharon Begley Science Reporting Award. The Award comprises a career prize, recognizing the accomplishments of a mid-career science journalist, and a grant of at least $20,000 to enable the winner to undertake a significant reporting project.
