Career grants

Open to all established science writers, whether freelancers or employees of publications, universities, or other organizations, the Career Grants award up to $2,500 for projects that aim to increase the overall scope of the person's career opportunities. Through periodic offers since 2009, $100,000 in Career Grant funds have been distributed to help established science writers advance their careers. Future rounds will be announced via nasw.org.

Over $11,000 has been awarded to ten recipients in the most recent round of Career Grants offered by the National Association of Science Writers. NASW is pleased to announce recipients of the second round of its Career Development Grants, which support education, training or other activities intended to help established science writers continue or advance their careers in today's rapidly changing media environment.

We are pleased to announce the recipients of NASW's first Career Development Grants, developed to support education, training or other activities that help established science writers continue or advance their careers in today's rapidly changing media environment. The grant offers reimbursement of up to $2,500 for proposed activities. Fifty-one applicants submitted requests totaling over $84,000.
