Andrew Meissen (@AndrewMeissen) is the recipient of the 2021 Diane McGurgan Service Award from the National Association of Science Writers. The award is presented annually to a volunteer or volunteers who have gone beyond the call of duty to lead or support NASW programs and activities.

During the recent ScienceWriters meeting, the winner of a very special annual award was announced. NASW depends on volunteers for just about everything that happens in this organization, with thousands of hours contributed annually.

Congratulations to the winner of the 2017 Diane McGurgan Service Award, NASW volunteer Jennifer Cox.
The winner of the 2016 Diane McGurgan Service Award is longtime NASW volunteer Lynne Lamberg, as announced by president Laura Helmuth on October 29 during ScienceWriters2016.
Robin Lloyd is this year’s recipient of the Diane McGurgan Service Award. She received a framed certificate and a $500 cash prize for the honor.
During the ScienceWriters2014 meeting, Amber Dance and Dennis Meredith were awarded the annual Diane McGurgan Service award, which recognizes outstanding volunteer contributions to the National Association of Science Writers. The award is named after NASW's former executive director Diane McGurgan. Amber and Dennis co-chair the Science in Society Journalism Awards program.
