NWU pursuing payments for NASW members

The National Writers Union announced today that it is pursuing payments from the American Geosciences Institute, which published the now-defunct EARTH Magazine, for six writers. All six are NASW members.

Nine months into the agreement to provide discounted services to NASW members, NWU has assisted nine NASW members directly with grievances, and nearly three dozen writers have signed up for the discounted NWU membership. With more than 1,000 freelancers among our membership of 2,567 science writers, NASW fully supports the efforts of freelance writers to pursue payment for work they have already performed. It is unconscionable for publications to commission and accept work done by professional writers and then not pay them fully and promptly for that work.
