PIO Committee changes name

We are changing our name! The PIO Committee is being renamed the Institutional Communicators Committee. We are doing this because an early informal survey of the email discussion group revealed that 87% of respondents were in favor of a name that better reflects the diversity of roles and responsibilities of science writers serving institutions, including universities, government agencies, science foundations, and other organizations.

The Institutional Communicators Committee creates and encourages professional development opportunities for institutional science communicators and provides a platform for these professionals to discuss their craft and learn from one another. The committee also ensures the interests and values of NASW’s institutional members are reflected within the larger organization.
