The Institutional Communicators Committee is excited to host a panel discussion on a much-requested topic: Crafting effective press releases. Emcee Lauren Quinn (Inst. Comms Committee co-chair, University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign) will guide Matt Shipman (North Carolina State University) and Thomas Sumner (Inst. Comms Committee member, Simons Foundation) in a conversation addressing the bread and butter of our profession. Come for the basics of audience and structure and stay for answers to such questions as:
- “Does this really warrant a press release?”
- “How can we show the impact or value of this research to the wider world?”
- “Should we (gasp!) embrace churnalism?”
If you have questions for our panelists, email instcomms@nasw.org by Monday, June 23.
