International new professional membership (low income/lower middle income countries)

This special rate of $25 is for residents of low income and lower middle income countries as defined by the World Bank. All other non-U.S. applicants should use the International new professional membership application.

Professional memberships are for working journalists, authors, editors, producers, public information officers, science-writing educators, and people who write and produce films, museum exhibits, and other material intended to inform the public about science and technology.

If your primary mailing address is in the United States, please use the U.S. application form instead.

Before beginning the online application, you should have:

  • Five work samples ready to upload. These five samples must be published science clips that you produced for a lay audience in the past five years; you must include the publication or airing dates for each entry. Samples may be: PDFs of articles from print publications, news releases or stories from Web sites; audio clips (mp3); or video stories (mov, wmv, avi). Each sample is limited to 16MB in size. File names may not contain apostrophes or quotation marks.
  • Visa, MasterCard, Discover, or American Express for payment.

NOTE: This form is for NEW members only. If you are trying to renew an existing membership, please log in with your NASW member user name and password to get the correct form.

Memberships paid before Nov. 1 will expire at the end of the current calendar year. Memberships paid after Nov. 1 will expire at the end of the next calendar year.
