David Perlman receives 2019 AGU Presidential Citation for Science and Society

Congratulations to longtime member and former NASW President David Perlman on receiving the 2019 AGU Presidential Citation for Science and Society. In today's award announcement, AGU Executive Director/Chief Executive Officer Chris McEntee noted, “The Presidential Citation for Science and Society celebrates David’s stellar work but also the role he has played in mentoring and inspiring generations of science journalists.”

Two years ago, at the age of 98, Perlman retired from what has referred to as "the best job in the world." He covered science for 70+ years as a reporter and editor at the San Francisco Chronicle. Perlman has been a member of NASW for more than 50 years. He served as president in 1970-71 and participated in countless volunteer activities, including mentoring many a journalist.
